當城市裡面下了跟山上一樣多雪,城市就collapse了,現在又還是下的很大,
Portland airport這個weekend二天都關閉了,all the domestic flights are cancelled. 不知道還要關多久,
雖然說已經一個禮拜都在零度以下渡過, snow storm賴了一個禮拜不走, 而且還要繼續賴一個禮拜,所以可以有white Christmas
過去這禮拜每天都在下雪,但最多持續6-7小時也就停了,很多同事work from home.
可是昨天Saturday真的是太誇張了, 白天一口氣下了15個小時, 累積 10 幾inch的 snow, 前院後院都不見了, 我美麗的Christmas lights都被埋沒了, 下午去家旁邊的坡sledding,可惜坡不夠陡, 不夠刺激,但是Lotti已經嚇到想從sled裡面跳出來了,誇張的鄰居們連snowmobiles都拿出來在附近騎(一般只會在山上看到人騎snowmobiles),But this totally turns our neighborhood into a winter wonderland.
I braved the environment to walk the dog this morning. I was so shocked to see 10 inch of snow coated by a very thick of ice.
very very sleek and slippery and it is everywhere, which makaes me tail on the ground. 摔了一跤,
原來是snow降完後又有freezing rain, 因為溫度又低, 就結成一大層厚厚的冰塊在雪上, 真是有趣, 來美國這麼多年,第一次看過這種奇景
不過我為我們公司的technicians覺得可憐(當然homeless這時候更可憐, they could die on the street, 很多nonprofit org and churches都出來幫助他們),
因為fab還是24hr都在run, technicians得冒著icy and sleek road condition到fab裡面工作,
Engineers還可以work from home.多讀幾年書的好處大概也就只有這樣了
